Special Products & Mfg., Inc. (SPM) is happy to announce its new logo design and rebranding project. SPM has chosen to unify the organization’s public image under an easily recognizable visual brand identity. This new visual identity will anchor SPM and our tradition of world class manufacturing. The brand identity provides a simplified and consistent external public image that is easy to recognize and is visually unifying.
More than 50 years ago, our founder, Bob Grand-Lienard, traced a circle around a nickel, another circle around a dime inside it, and then sketched in the letters SPM in the center. With nothing but a pen, 15 cents, and a vision, our first logo was born.
Of the company’s new brand identity, Chief Operating Officer, Ed Grand-Lienard stated “Our rebranding project and specifically our new logo honors our past while adding a visual definition to our Vision 2020 and our focus on the future.”
The new logo design represents several new and existing characteristics:
- Global, two circles resembling a world.
- The “swooshes” suggest a never ending cycle, constant movement, and progress including innovation, continuous improvement, and teamwork.
- SPM is bold, simple, in the center, growing, and “breaking out” of the circles.
- We are still honoring our original logo with two circles and the story of the nickel and dime.
